Architectural and civil engineering students from universities across Canada will compete in the fifth annual TimberFever Design-Build Competition this September.

The event was created by Moses Structural Engineers with a vision of collaboration and hands-on experience. It will be held at Ryerson University from September 12-15, 2019.

The students will be placed into teams where they will design and build a life-size structure out of wood. A surprise brief outlining this year’s theme will be announced at the start of the competition. Industry leaders in the fields of architecture, engineering, construction, and professional trades will mentor the students throughout the competition.

“TimberFever would not be possible without all the mentors, judges, student organizers, and sponsors who graciously volunteer their time and provide financial support for the event,” says David Moses, principal of Moses Structural Engineers and founder of TimberFever.

The winning teams will be selected by a panel of judges during the TimberFever Awards Ceremony on the final day of the competition on September 15, 2019. The awards ceremony is open to the general public and the structures will be on display in Toronto for some time after the competition.

Moses Structural Engineers first began the competition in 2015 with Ryerson students only. Since then it has doubled in size and expanded to universities across Canada.
